pH Solutions

Many users make very important decisions based on the measurement obtained by a pH meter. One of the most important aspects in obtaining an accurate measurement is the quality of the buffer that is used. The buffer is the reference point for the electrode response when testing a sample. Which is why we say, measurement is only is as good as the buffer.

At Hanna, we not only formulate and manufacture the buffer, we also make the bottle that holds it. All buffers are produced in accordance with ISO 3696/BS3978 standards using high purity salts, deionized water, certified weight-checked balances, and Class A glassware, in a temperature controlled environment monitored with certified thermometers. For our basic buffers the reported values are accurate to +/- 0.01 pH @ 25°C and are traceable to NIST Standard Reference Materials (SRMs). These buffers can be purchased with or without a certificate of analysis. Hanna also offers millesimal buffers that have reported values are accurate to +/- 0.002 pH @ 25°C.

Buffers can be purchased in a variety of sizes and packaging from single use sachets that are ideal for the user that works in the field or for those who use the meter infrequently, to 3.78 L (1 gallon) containers of buffer, with dyed options for easy identification, for those that are calibrating to multiple points frequently.

Basic Buffers

The HI7000 series are the basic buffers that suit most users. They can be purchased in single use sachets or bottles. The buffers are NIST traceable.

Available in bottles, with dyes and as sachets.

Millesimal Buffers

The millesimal buffers are for users that have very strict requirements and perfrom measurements with a resolution to 0.001 pH units. These buffers +/- 0.002 pH @ 25°C and are available from pH 1 to pH 13. They are supplied with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and are available in light block bottles or sachets.
